Is it really wrong that I kinda feel like I’m already a little bit late with this video even though it’s only the 2nd of March? I think that’s so wrong, but I can’t help it! Actually the video was meant to go up yesterday, but then I remembered that Mother’s Day is around the corner. So I thought putting together a mothers day gift ideas post would make more sense!
Anyways, this monthly favourites video is a little bit longer than my last monthly favourites video but there were a lot more products to play around with last month, I felt a lot more experimental with (and worried about) my skin and stuff.

So my friend was going to the Athletics Union Ball at our uni and asked me whether I could do her hair and makeup (or maybe I forced myself onto her a little bit? ;-)) The result you can see above!
For her makeup, I didn’t want it to be too much – she was wearing a red dress and she normally doesn’t really wear makeup, so I worked with gold and brown tones! I just warmed up her cheeks a little bit with a mineralize blush and a golden-toned highlighter. She has beautifully shaped, high cheekbones! They deserve to come out! And I gave her a bit of a glow, so I lightly dusted some highlighter powder all over her face too.
For her hair, which is super fine, soft, sleek, poker straight and incredibly difficult to work with for someone like me who only knows how to style curls and straightened hair with originally curly hair texture [aaaaaahhhhhhh!!!!!!] , we didn’t have a plan. We originally tried using my big curling tong by WAHL, but it’s just crap [after 5 min it still wasn't warmed up fully! I don' have the time for that kind of crap, I'm way too impatient for that!].
So I just picked up the top half of her hair and tied it into a messy knot, which I pinned down with bobby pins. And then I just kind of wrapped the bottom half around that knot and pinned that down too. Some strands fell out, some we pinned back in and then I fixated with a ton of hair spray! I’m actually really proud with the outcome of that hairdo!
Doesn’t she look lovely? Also – doesn’t she have the longest lashes in the history of the world?! Let me know what you think of her makeup and hair – feedback is always welcome – but you know that!!
Did everyone get into the new year in style? I hope you all did!
Lodz and I had a nice evening with some of his colleagues playing Trivial Pursuit and Beer Pong on the host’s iPad and drinking some Amaretto & Coke and nomming away on some onion bhajis… Oh yeah and annoying neighbours with the host’s far-reaching laser pen *muhahahahahha* Does that count as getting into the new year in style? LOL!
I just wanted to wish you guys all the best for this year…. even if – if you believe some prophecies – the world is said to end on 21st December of this new year… MAKE THE MOST OF IT EITHER WAY! ;-)
I plan to get my degree (hopefully with a 2.1) – so I will be massively busy still… I hope though that my 2nd term (from mid February) I will be less busy with coursework, so I can blog and tweet and youtube again! Thank you guys so much for being so patient with me!!!

I’m afraid I didn’t think of taking a picture of my makeup but it was just a smokey eye featuring gold/brown colours by Sugarpill, Bourjois, MAC and MeMeMe.
How did you spend the last night of 2011? What did you decide to wear? Have you made any New Year’s Resolutions?
Much love, Miss drifted Snow White
