monthly favourites february 2013

Hey dolls!!

Is it really wrong that I kinda feel like I’m already a little bit late with this video even though it’s only the 2nd of March? I think that’s so wrong, but I can’t help it! Actually the video was meant to go up yesterday, but then I remembered that Mother’s Day is around the corner. So I thought putting together a mothers day gift ideas post would make more sense!

Anyways, this monthly favourites video is a little bit longer than my last monthly favourites video but there were a lot more products to play around with last month, I felt a lot more experimental with (and worried about) my skin and stuff.

Hope you’ll like my Monthly Favourites February 2013 video!!

Have a brilliant weekend (I’m going to be busy with chores and feeling sorry for myself for my hungover ass!)

Review • Illamasqua ImPerfection Immodest Lipstick

From yesterday’s post, you might’ve already guessed that I’ve become infatuated with Illamaqua‘s ImPerfection with my Speckle nail polish review. Today it’s review time of the Illamaqua ImPercection Immodest Lipstick!

The collection comes with the brand new Immodest Lipstick, which is a higly-pigmented, bright, vivid pink lipstick with a matte finish. Of course that means that the lipstick is a little bit harder to apply than a glossier one, but like the collection says, it’s ok to be imperfect, right? This will be a permanent edition to the now 29-colours strong lipstick collection of Illamasqua.

Of course it’s not the most mind-blowing shade, seeing that many different brands at the low and high price spectrum do their own versions of that kind of colour (I’m not sure on those coming in a matte finish, but I can’t imagine there not being a few ones that are similar colour and finish!). But it’s the kind of fresh pink colour that’s brilliant for Spring time, especially when you’ve already got a bit of tan going or you generally have a deeper skintone.

It’s now available online and in stores/concessions for £16 (which I think is a bit hefty, but then again I’m stingy like a true German only can be!)

Will you be getting the Illamasqua I’mPerfection Immodest Lipstick?

Review • Illamasqua ImPerfection Speckle Nail Polish

Illamasqua ImPerfection Speckle Nail Polish (04)

Illamasqua ImPerfection Speckle Nail Polish *

I haven’t blogged about Illamasqua in forever, because their collections just didn’t fly with me – a bit too much out there and unwearable for an average person like myself – but their recent ImPerfection collection has really hit home.

The world isn’t perfect. But who wants to be perfect anyways?
ImPerfection is an open invitation to stand up and sow the world what makes you perfectly, imperfect.
So show off your freckles. Make beauty spots more beautiful. Shine a light on your birthmarks. And be proud of your scars.
Because life isn’t about finding yourself, life is about celebrating who you really are.

What a perfect message to start 2013 with. I don’t know about you, but I’ve got this feeling that 2013 is all about change. I don’t know what change it will be for me, but my guts do tell me there’s change coming my way.

One of the highlights of this collection are the Speckled Nail Varnishes, that come in five shades: Freckle (soft neutral), Fragile (soft blue), Mottle (soft green), Scarce (soft pink) and, the object of today’s review, Speckle!

All these speckled nail polishes with their black circular flakes and tiny particles remind me a lot of some Easter egg sweets that we have in Germany (not sure whether they exist over here!), especially with these pastel colours! I guess that’s a brilliant coup what with Easter being (sort-of-ish) around the corner!

Speckle is a gorgeous pastel lilac, which I think will be one of the big colours in SS13!

And I have to say I’m really, really impressed with the polish! I normally shy away from nail polishes because I am just too impatient to wait for them to dry, especially when they’re glittery they normally take forever because they have to be applied thickly to actually show the flaked effect.

But not these ones! I am really in awe! It took only two coats to get the polish to look opaque and the irregular effect is just brilliant. And the product dried superfast too! So fast in fact I didn’t get the chance to ruin more than one nail!

So for £14.50 this Speckle polish (and probably the other 4 ones too!) are such a brilliant novelty and definitely worth the money! They are available online now and in stores/concessions!

So, dolls, will you get yourself the Illamasqua ImPerfection Speckle Nail Polish or one of the other four or stay away?
