monthly favourites february 2013

Hey dolls!!

Is it really wrong that I kinda feel like I’m already a little bit late with this video even though it’s only the 2nd of March? I think that’s so wrong, but I can’t help it! Actually the video was meant to go up yesterday, but then I remembered that Mother’s Day is around the corner. So I thought putting together a mothers day gift ideas post would make more sense!

Anyways, this monthly favourites video is a little bit longer than my last monthly favourites video but there were a lot more products to play around with last month, I felt a lot more experimental with (and worried about) my skin and stuff.

Hope you’ll like my Monthly Favourites February 2013 video!!

Have a brilliant weekend (I’m going to be busy with chores and feeling sorry for myself for my hungover ass!)

Style Challenge – 1 Dress, 3 Ways

I don’t know about you, but I unless it’s a very specific event like school leaving ball or graduation ball, that happens once and then never again, I normally don’t buy specific dresses for occasions, because I would probably never get to wear it again. And that totally goes against my get-the-most-wear-out-of-things attitude. I must more prefer buying dresses that depending on makeup, hair and accessories, I can style differently for different occasions.

Clearly Marks & Spencer is exactly on the same wavelength, as they invited me to participate in their “1 Dress, 3 Ways” style challenge. I picked a dark red velvet skater-style number from their dress range as I think it’s quite versatile and velvet is so hot right now (I’m slowly warming to it – it gives me early-90s flashbacks!).

I wanted to show you how this one dress can be ideal for a Christmas or New Year’s Eve party as well as for work as well as for a casual shopping spree. It’s all about what you combine with the dress as you can see. Shoes, coats/jackets, jewellery and bags make all the difference!

Above is the Party Outfit – I used gold accessories like the belt and jewellery and my favourite faux fur coat and those cute glittery pumps to glam it up.

Here’s how I would wear the dress to work – this time combining the red wine of the velvet dress with yellow coloured items like that blazer for a more elegant and smart touch.

I really love this blazer, I’ve worn it in so many outfits! I think it’s probably my personal purchase of the year!

Here’s how I would wear the velvet dress for a casual shopping spree or day out, just with a parka and my massive new killer heels that I got at The Clothes Show Live that Echo Falls invited me to.

You see that you can ‘recycle’ dresses for different occasions. It just takes a bit of outside the box thinking and a few bits and pieces of accessories to make it work! Try it yourself, pick an item and style it different ways – it’s super easy and you’ll get so much more value for your money!

Style Challenge > Temperley x Filofax Outfit #1

Last week I was very, very, very lucky to be invited to the style challenge set out by Temperly and Filofax to style outfits around the 3 brand new Temperley x Filofaxes.

This meant that I got to go to Temperley’s store in Notting Hill and pick 3 Alice by Temperley items to take home to style the outfits with – alas, I had to return these items too, which brought tears to my eyes. I also had to return the two Ikat organizers :’(

But it was incredibly amazing (and also sh*t scary) to play with clothes that retail at hundreds of pounds. I don’t think I’ve ever even touched fashion items that expensive (I am a simpleton after all).

So I styled the first Temperley x Filofax in voilet with the perfect pleather skirt from Glamorous, the Alice by Temperley blouse I got to loan, my super cosy and beautiful fur coat from F&F / Tesco and my (probably fake) Mulberry bag.

I wanted to choose muted colours like black, white, beige and grey to make that stunning violet organiser stand out through its colour and beauty. Plus I really wanted another excuse to wear my new most favourite winter coat in the world :)

By the way, this is the very first post ever where I actually really like the look of my legs. That’s a first! Those who’ve been following my blog for a while know that I have massive issues with my legs being shorter than my upper body, so the fact that I actually LIKE the way they look in these pictures is like a MIRACLE!!!!

So yeah, this is the first outfit. There are another 2 coming of course styling the Ikat organizers both in yellow and in pink, so do stay tuned!!
