Very Happy Friday to you all!!!
I’m very excited about this Friday’s Follow Friday Interview Series as it’s my first feature of a male blogger!! He’s only been blogging for a couple of months but he’s doing very well for himself and I think it’s very courageous to go blogging as a man – there aren’t that many out there after all!
With no further ado, let me introduce you to the new blogging bloke on the block: Lodz from The Blogging Bloke!
Name: Lodz
How many subscribers (across all media incl Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, etc) do you have right now?
What do you blog most about (reviews? make-up looks? hair care products? fashion?)
Do you blog full-time? If not, what do you do full-time?
Ha! If I relied on my blog for income I would be destitute. I work in IT sales for a lovely company called Softcat.
Have you ever been invited to any blogging events? If yes, which one was your favorite?
I’ve only really been to one and it wasn’t really a blogging event per se. But I loved the big shave off for Orchid Male Cancer in the Manchester Arndale. The Gentry Grooming Co were kind enough to put it on, and supported it brilliantly, breaking a world record and raising lots of money for charity too! (Top Tip – When my blog traffic picks up a bit, I will be giving away The Gentry Grooming Co’s Tremendous 3D shave, so watch this space)
I have dark brown, curly ‘f**k you I won’t do what you tell me’ hair. It’s the Rage Against the Machine of Barnets. When I get it to do what I want it looks pretty good though. For hair care I really like tresemme at the moment. Very good value product range.
What’s in your make-up bag?
Unfortunately, I don’t have one! If I wore make-up I’d keep it in a tree. Action transvestitism.
What products do you swear by?
I love Sudocrem Tube, hat tip to MsDriftedSW for getting me to try it – it’s made my skin so much better. The Gentry Grooming Co’s Styling Cream is terrific, and Bulldog’s Sensitive Moisturiser and the After Shave Balm are, in my opinion, the best on the market.
Who are your favorite bloggers?
The Chapblog is really good, as is Jimmybobba. I’m also partial to the beauty diaries, Liloo (and her little garden), and of course Miss Drifted Snow White *plug plug*
What animal would you be if you could choose?
A mini lop rabbit. They’re so cute!! Plus all bunnehs do is eat carrots and shag. Seems like a great life to me.
What’s your pet hate?
Lynx. Wear lynx body spray and i’ll tear you in half by the arm pits. Foul, fetid stench of pre-pubescent desperation.
What’s your vice?
Torpor (yes I realise that’s a weird one, but one for the Buddhists out there) [state of low activity]
What makes you subscribe to a blog?
I must admit I’m really bad with subbing to blogs, and there are many I really should sub to but don’t. Those I do sub to are easy to read, well written, have a hint of originality and individualism, don’t take themselves seriously, or just catch my eye.
How do you think your blog stands out from the other blogs?
I really don’t take myself too seriously. I’m not the world’s most attractive guy, and nor do I claim to me. I like to test stuff out and write about it. I think a lot of beauty bloggers can become brand fixated, so I try if I can to try more niche brands or products, or just whatever I grab when I’m out shopping. I like to think my writing’s pretty accessible and light, but also informative.
Do you have a favorite make up artist? If yes, who is it?
Alex Box or Wayne Goss. These are the only two makeup artists I know the names of. Therefore they must be my favourites?
How would other people describe you using only 5 adjectives?
Kind, Funny, Attractive, Virile, Deluded.
What do you consider your strengths?
I’m a mind of useless information. I like to put that into my blog as well, for example in one of my earlier posts I dug deep into what makes a fragrance and cutting through some of the mysteries, and I like to think I can explain that sort of stuff well. Although i’m a techie at heart so can get caught up in jargon and needless detail.
What is your favorite beauty magazine?
I think the best Men’s magazine is Esquire. All the men’s lifestyle mags are a bit ‘city boy’ for my liking. All big brands and how to be a posh, rich git. But I think esquire is the better of the group, GQ is probably more informative but I like its tone less. Though they are all infinitely better than the ‘lads mags’ that review the more mid-range products. In fact, the lack of good writing about men’s grooming with reasonable budgets is what got me into reading, and eventually writing blogs.
What food can you not stay away from?
I make the best pasta dish that I would happily eat until I explode, and I invented it one night with whatever I had lying around, as all the best dishes are. I’d tell you more, but the recipe is exclusive to me and my beautiful girlfriend for whom I created it :)
How often per month do you haul?
I don’t HAUL. Haul is one of the few things about blogging that irritates me. Girls, it’s shopping. Call it shopping for the love of god. If you are using haul as a verb it means you are dragging it along. Male grooming blogging hasn’t really caught the ‘haul’ train yet, thankfully. I tend to buy stuff really sporadically, often because i’ve run out of its predecessor. I think that’s part of the limitation of Male Grooming compared to Makeup and beauty, that you can’t do as many products in tandem, whereas you can do a new nail varnish or eye shadow etc every day. I probably get a couple of new products every month, possibly more if the PR people are feeling generous.
Is there something we should know about you that you haven’t shared before?
I was once the owner of Ferrari deodorant. Purchased on a terrible whim (and need for deo) in Poland. It was horrid.

It took me 27 years to find my Mr Right and Lodz is it. So, yeah, maybe I’m biased in my opinion in thinking you should follow him, but it really is worth it. I would’ve not nagged him for months to start blogging if I didn’t think he has got something to say. He is highly intelligent and always tries to include proper background information into his posts. Like, I learnt stuff about fragrances and what they can do through his blog (and in person) that I would’ve not learnt anywhere else. And he’s witty and does like being a bit of a meanie over other stuff haha.
I think he’s worth following and I hope you think so too! AND do make sure you also comment, he dooooes like comments :-)
Much love,
Miss drifted Snow White
