Happy Friday everyone!
Phew! Another week is over. Now I have almost 3 months of summer ahead of me. Hope that’ll result in lots of blogging, but I’m not sure yet.
This 1st-July-Follow-Friday-Interview-Series Edition, I’m introducing you to the lovely Rosalyn from Primp & Preen. I hope you’ll enjoy reading her answers :-)
Name: Rosalyn or Roz
Age: 26
Blog: Primp and Preen
Twitter: primpsandpreens
How long have you been blogging?
Since January 2010 but it feels like I’ve been blogging forever, in the nicest way possible. I’m not sure what I did with my time before I started!
How many subscribers (across all media incl Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, etc) do you have right now?
I have 700 Twitter followers, 80 on Facebook and 430 GFC followers on my blog at the moment. I still get so excited when I see someone else has clicked “follow”, it’s just the best feeling.
What do you blog most about (reviews? make-up looks? hair care products? fashion?)?
My blog started off as a beauty blog that was mainly reviews on make up and hair care products. As I’ve become more confident I’ve started posting the odd make up look, OOTD and more personal post. Some of my most popular posts are my Monday’s good Stuff posts where I list 5 things that make me happy every week. They’re great for putting me in a good mood on an otherwise miserable Monday.
How did you come up with your blog’s name?
My Mum’s always laughed at the amount of time I spend “primping and preening” so that’s where it came from.
Do you blog full-time? If not, what do you do full-time?
I may feel like I do but no. I’m currently volunteering at various schools to get experience to apply for a PGCE course and that takes up my week days. I spend a couple of hours a day working on my blog and reading other people’s posts though.
Have you ever been invited to any blogging events? If yes, which one was your favourite?
I’ve only been to one, a Remington event, which was amazing and so that wins the prize for best ;) As well as getting to meet some of my favourite bloggers and try out fab products, we were also taken to a great show, La Soiree which was unforgettable. A perfect night.
What type of hair do you have and what’s your favourite hair care brand?
My hair is wavy and normal to dry so I need something to give it a moisture boost. I don’t have a go to brand, as I’m still on the look out for my HG products but I rate Aussie, Lee Stafford, Phil Stafford and VO5 products.
What’s in your make-up bag?
This changes all the time but currently I’m carrying around: Collection 2000 powder and a mini kabuki, MAC Dollymix blusher, Revlon Colorburst Lipglosses in Hot Pink, Peony and Strawberry and Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation.
What products do you swear by?
MAC Dollymix blusher for always making me look awake and alive even when tired or hung over, Batiste for days when I’m in a rush, Mir skincare products when my skin flares up and Lee Stafford Hair Treatment to keep my hair in great shape and growing.
Who are your favourite bloggers?
There are too many to mention but I love Laurann from Objects of my Affection, Ashley from Sophie’s Law, Carlinn from Superficial Girls and Laura from Lollipop Loves in particular at the moment. They are all blogs that I check on a daily basis and they’re really sweet girls who I chat to on Twitter.
What animal would you be if you could choose?
A cat would suit my personality, nice and lazy.
What’s your pet hate?
Drivers not using their indicators or people who stop and chat in doorways or on the stairs are probably my biggest bugbears. Beauty wise I’m pretty laid back and am struggling to think of anything!
What’s your vice?
Cheese.
What makes you subscribe to a blog?
A chatty writing style, a good mix of posts, clear photos and a pretty layout.
How do you think your blog stands out from the other blogs?
This is such a difficult question, but I write very honestly, in a chatty style and I also post most days too. I think they’re the things that attract people to my blog anyway.
Do you have a favourite make up artist? If yes, who is it?
I love Lisa Eldridge, she’s amazingly talented but also so down to earth and actually tweets back!
How would other people describe you using only 5 adjectives?
Talkative, passionate, silly, kind, chilled.
What do you consider your strengths?
I’m pretty laid back and that comes in handy in blogging. I tend to keep my head down when there’s any drama going on. This is a hobby for me after all so I deliberately stay away from any of the drama. That and I work hard to come up with posts that my readers seem to like.
What is your favourite beauty magazine?
I love the beauty pages of Glamour but otherwise get most of my beauty info and inspiration online rather than magazines.
What food can you not stay away from?
Most food and therein lies the problem. I absolutely love all the bad Italian and Mexican food that I should stay away from though.
How often per month do you haul?
It used to be a couple of times a month but now I’m not earning I have to be much more strict with myself. I very rarely haul now, and have only hauled once in the whole of 2011 so far.
Is there something we should know about you that you haven’t shared before?
I’m the soppiest person ever and I cry at anything – movies, TV programmes, anything and even if I’ve seen it before, it won’t stop me. It’s highly embarrassing.
I only started following Roz recently, but I love her blog. It’s simply elegant and I love her writing style and she always writes about stuff I find interesting :-)
Go follow her.
Much love,
Miss drifted Snow White
