One week ago, I launched this new series introducing you to my favorite people on the internet – bloggers, youtubers, twitteristas, you name it. They will all be here. Some of them are going to be famous and some of them might be completely unknown to you. Either way, they are all worth following and that’s why I’m featuring them! You know I wouldn’t recommend something or someone if I wouldn’t do it myself, right?!
So today, I’m featuring the lovely Zoe from The London Lipgloss, whom I met at the National Beauty Blogging Event in February! She’s such a unique character with a very individual style and a gorgeous body and mind!
How long have you been blogging?
About a year and a half now.
How many subscribers (across all media incl Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, etc) do you have right now?
I kinda don’t really see subscribers as an important part of blogging, I’ve got enough people that make me happy and that’s all that matters. If people subscribe it’s nice but I don’t particularly get down in the dumps about people who don’t :)
What do you blog most about (reviews? make-up looks? hair care products? fashion?)?
The London Lipgloss really is a bit of everything, I love to write about my outfits and where i’ve been shopping, but I started it to outlet my love for cosmetics and beauty products really so you can expect to see a lot of those, and then all about the stuff I get up to inbetween!
How did you come up with your blog’s name?
Well I really wanted something with London in the title and I was struggling so I thought about what I loved and well, Lipgloss is definitely a big love! I’m not particularly fond of it however it’s quite recognisable and it’s part of me now.
Do you blog full-time? If not, what do you do full-time?
Noooo and I don’t genuinely know anyone who does?! If so they are very lucky. Only beauty journalists I guess, but that is an entirely different ball game and not even close to blogging! I’m a live music photographer, music journalist for the four oh five magazine, music promoter with del at This Is Not Revolution Rock Kingston and a visual merchandiser in Gap (keeps the monies to fund the make up addiction coming in!)
Have you ever been invited to any blogging events? If yes, which one was your favorite?
Umm I think probably the Decleor or the TRESemme but to be honest they’re all very unique.
What type of hair do you have and what’s your favorite hair care brand?
Dry! Haha. It’s dark purple at the moment, but yes a bit butchered from years and years of hair dying, whoops. At the moment it’s a toss up between Aussie, Herbal Essences and these new VO5 contenders..!
What’s in your make-up bag?
A TopShop crayon, TopShop blush in flush, MAC concealer, YSL Touche Eclat, MAC Feline kohl power, MaxFactor black liquid eyeliner, TopShop pencil with glitter, nail glue, MAC Opulash mascara, ummmm whatever I decide on that morning :)!
What products do you swear by?
MAC Face and Body in Pure White, Decleor day cream, Elemis Lime Blossom Cleanser, Manic Panic Hair Dye, MAC Lipstick in Pink Nouveau, MAC Opulash and Aussie Lusciously Light Colour Mate Conditioner. There are hundreds others but I tried to condense!!
Who are your favorite bloggers?
Sarah from Essbeevee, Leanne from DoNotRefreeze, Charlotte from Lipglossiping, Yinka from Vexinthecity, Caroline from Beautymouth, Natalya from FilthyGorgeousMakeup, Sabrina from ALittleObsessed, Fei from PeoniesandLilies, Nicola from Nicolavc86. Youtubers include Gemsmaquillage, FleurdeForce, Tanya Burr, KlairedeLys, SwalkerMakeup and literally hundreds more, I couldn’t possibly list them all.
What animal would you be if you could choose?
A little baby brown bear.
What’s your pet hate?
Umm, not being able to see at gigs and people with flags at gigs, haha. Del stealing my macbook and eating my food. Being at work, and not being able to do what I want to do for a living all the time. Bananas!!
What’s your vice?
Buying too much makeup, and getting obscenly drunk with Frank on tour. Stays on tour!!
What makes you subscribe to a blog?
If the content is unique, and interesting, and quite obviously written by themselves with their own photographs. I love it when a blog isn’t just free product after free product and you can actually learn a lot about that person from the blog. If your blog is unique and interesting I’ll find it, trust me.
How do you think your blog stands out from the other blogs?
Um well quite hard to answer myself as i’m just me on it, I just write things as I see them, i’m very honest and not afraid to give a bad review even if the product was free, and maintain a certain level of diginity by turning down products to ensure my content is relevant. I love blogging and I hope my blog reflects that really! :)
Do you have a favorite make up artist? If yes, who is it?
I love Pat McGrath, but then again I love everything about i-D.
How would other people describe you using only 5 adjectives?
Fun, giggly, confident, unique, Zozo.
What do you consider your strengths?
I love meeting new people and therefore am quite confident chatting to people, especially people who love beauty as much as I do! I love to socialise and party and am not afraid of anyone, whether they are mega famous or not at all. I love almost everything in life and am very easy going and fun loving, i’m just out to get the most out of life and I do find it a bit hard to say no to things, infact I say yes to almost everything and it’s led me from anywhere to Biffy Clyro on tour in Switzerland to cameos in music videos to crashing tour buses. I’ve been that way since I was a kid. I like to live by one of Frank’s lyrics “and we’re definitely going to hell, but we’ll have all the best stories to tell.” I like being able to tell people the crazy stories of things i’ve done, I tell my mum everything and I think she’s oddly proud of all the things i’ve done with bands photo and tour wise!
What is your favorite beauty magazine?
Ummm. Not beauty as such, I guess fashion/editorial, i-D, as I said above. But i also love Dazed. I am Nathan Barley, shoot me.
What food can you not stay away from?
Rice! Oh my god I love Rice. Plain rice, flavoured rice, any rice. Del’s mum does the best rice EVERRR. But to be honest I eat everything, apart from bananas haha.
How often per month do you haul?
I don’t ‘haul’ but I go shopping probably a few times a week and just pick up odd bits here and then. I feel a bit giddy dropping a lot of money in one go.
Is there something we should know about you that you haven’t shared before?
I don’t think so, my blog is a huge slice of my life and is very honest about me, I tend to share a lot about my life. My new Sunday Stories segment should surprise a few people with secrets about me but of course you gotta read my blog to find that out!
I love this girl! You can just tell by her responses that she’s such an extremely free spirit and I always admire people who do as they please and not think too much about the consequences. She’s got a good head on her shoulder and I think she’s heading towards living an extraordinary life!
GO FOLLOW HER!!!
