Today I’m bringing you the bi-monthly Follow Friday Interview Series with the lovely Emma from Bloomzy, who has an unhealthy obsession with all things Eastern Asia, especially when it comes to fashion & beauty – I guess that stems from living in Japan for a while, or maybe that’s why she lived there for a while!
How long have you been blogging?
I’ve been blogging for almost 3 years now. Time has really flown by!
How many subscribers (across all media incl Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, etc) do you have right now?
That’s a hard one for me to keep up with, but via GFC, Twitter & Facebook I have almost 4000.
What do you blog most about (outfit posts? trends? lust-lists? Etc)?
It varies, but I do a lot of beauty product reviews, wishlists and outfit posts. I also like to throw in a photo diary post every now and again.
How did you come up with your blog’s name?
It was a username I used years ago back when I first started creating a presence for myself on the internet. I found people would recognise me on various social media platforms because of my username so I decided to keep it and use it for my blog – I also think it’s kinda unique so hopefully people remember me and my blog.
What’s your favourite part about blogging?
Being able to write about the things I love, and to share it with my readers. It’s amazing when someone comments or links back to a post because they feel the same/enjoyed reading it.
How do you take your outfit pictures?
My fiance takes my outfit photos for me, although if he’s not around I ask another family member or friend to help, and the last resort is to use my tripod.
What equipment (camera, etc) do you use?
I use an Olympus Pen E-PL1 or my iPhone 4 if I don’t have my camera handy.
Do you post-edit your pictures?
I always resize my photos, and occasionally edit the lighting/colour if it hasn’t come out right – just basic stuff really.
Have you ever been invited to any blogging events? If yes, which one was your favorite?
I have, and my favourite to date has to have been the Boux Avenue event in Norwich. The ladies who worked there were lovely and very accommodating. It also makes you feel as if you’re doing something right when you get the chance to see the store and products before anyone else.
What’s your favourite piece of clothing in your wardrobe?
That is really too hard a question! If I had to pick one though I would say that my vintage Levi high-waisted shorts (a recent purchase) are my favourites as they’re comfy and very easy to coordinate with other items of clothing.
What’s your must-have accessory this season?
A big statement necklace to compliment this seasons Baroque trend.
What fashion brands do you swear by?
I always shop in Topshop, Zara and H&M for my clothing. As for my favourite beauty brands, I’d have to say Chanel and Lush.
Who are your favorite bloggers?
Currently I have a lot of love for Rae from Love for Schoolgirl – she is an incredibly sweet person with a gorgeous sense of style, and her photography skills are amazing! I also frequent Makeup Monster’s blog for all my beauty cravings – if it’s beauty related you bet she knows all about it!
What’s your pet hate?
Ignorant people or people who look down on others. Luckily I haven’t bumped into many people like that through blogging.
What’s your vice?
Food! If I see something that looks tasty (especially if I haven’t tried it before) then I’ll probably eat it.
What makes you subscribe to a blog?
A professional, neat layout and nice big photos – along with unique content.
How do you think your blog stands out from the other blogs?
My blog doesn’t just focus on one topic. I like to incorporate fashion, beauty and also lifestyle into my posts. My blog is all about my passions and in that sense it’s quite personal so I like that to be reflected in my content.
Whose style do you admire (celebrity, fashion blogger, etc)?
I really admire my friends personal styles. That might sound a bit cheesy but I know some amazing ladies with incredibly unique styles, which inspires me a lot.
How would other people describe you using only 5 adjectives?
Eccentric / thoughtful / eclectic / spontaneous / kind.
What is your go-to fashion magazine?
Currently it’s Company magazine. I love their dedication to street style and bloggers.
What food can you not stay away from?
Anything Matcha (green tea) flavoured!
What do you prefer: online shopping or shopping in stores?
Definitely shopping in stores. Shopping online is great for wasting time but the chance to try on clothes, feel the material, check out the quality in person – those are things I would never give up.
Is there something you wanna share that you haven’t shared before?
Even though I love shoes I could easily only get along with one or two key pairs.
