When you think of London you probably think of rainy, miserable weather, millions of grumpy commuters, overpriced real estate and concrete everywhere you look – especially East London.Well think again. Ever heard of the Barbican Centre? It’s apparently Europe’s largest multi-arts and conference venue presenting a diverse range of art, music, theatre, dance, film and creative learning events, based right by Moorgate.
Anyhoo, there is a magical place in there that I can only describe as paradise. Huge palm trees, little creeks and ponds with live fish are hiding the hideous concrete that the Garden Room is made of and this was the perfect location for Wednesday’s Boots Spring/Summer 2012 event.
At the event the focus was on introducing all kinds of products you need for the summer and holidays on sunny beaches (besides swim wear, sunglasses and money): sun protectants and aftercare for adults and kids by Soltan; self-tanning and tan-stimulating products by Soltan; hair sun protection range by Boots; insect repellents, travel sickness medication and treatments, and foot care by Boots; weight-loss products by WeightWatchers, Rosemary Conley , Shapers and XLS-Medical; and plenty of awesome products ranging skincare, nails and makeup by Champneys, No7 (all designed by Lisa Elderidge) and 17.
There was probably a lot more to see but this is what I remember. Here are a few pictures of the upcoming products…
I have to say this was by far the bestest thought-out and executed event I have ever been to. When Pip and I got to the venue we literally awed at the beauty of this place. It’s just not something you expect to find in London. Like, EVER. Absolutely the perfect location for an event like that. And it was planned to a detail and with a lot of effort – the drinks, the food, the ‘Say YES to Summer 2012 with Boots‘ brochure, lounging areas and marquees… I could go on forever. Absolutely amazing, stunning, beautiful, soothing, perfect. So much that Pip & I actually happily missed out on another event out of the 3 we were meant to go to LOL! No offense to the Superdrug guys – I do understand they have smaller budgets – but MY GAWD, Boots know how to put on an event. This is how it’s done, people! HAHA
Sorry for the little love confession there, back to the topic… I will be reviewing products or at least do summarizing theme-type posts in the next weeks to help you get ready for the (hopefully) sunny Spring/Summer 2012.
What are your plans for Summer 2012? You going somewhere? I’m moving to London and won’t have any holidays *sadface*
