Is this really the “Big Freeze“? It’s only a few degrees below Zero and it’s not like it’s been that for days! Yeah it’s cold and all, but the “Big Freeze”? Nah! UK should be glad it’s not snowing constantly.
For those outside the UK: the UK is a nation cannot deal with snow. Like AT ALL. 2cm of snow is enough to like kill most of the traffic both on the roads and on train tracks. It’s ridiculous. While the rest of the European continent shuffles along slowly to work and deals with ankle and knee deep snow, the UK falls apart with a few flurries. Wanna know why? Because people don’t have to put on winter tyres in the UK! And people clearly still think [despite the past 4 years of regular snow fall in winter] “Nah, it never snows in the UK” – it clearly does! If I was running an insurance company, I’d give away premium discounts for those who run winter tyres… Or I would have a sneaky clause in the policy saying “No winter tyres between October and February? No cover if you crash!”
For those in the UK: The rest of Europe pretty much all have to put on winter tyres for those months – regardless of snow, ice, etc. It’s a legal requirement and in Germany you can get an on-the-spot fine.
But like a[n almost] true British girl, I don’t care that it’s cold – I care more about looking good than being warm! Hence the skirt and the vest top :)
