After missing the 2 big shows that I was invited to for London Fashion Week AW13 due to traffic – I was massively cheered up by the babes from The Body Shop letting me get the most amazing backstage experience of my life (besides meeting the Backstreet Boys and Nsync backstage when I was 13) for the Ones to Watch show that they sponsored alongside Toni & Guy for Fashion Scout.
The Ones to Watch show was a 3-in-1 catwalk show to showcase some mad-skilled up and coming designers namely Yeashin, Patrick Li and Yulia Kondranina.
The Make Up
Of course all The Body Shop products, including brand new as well as not even released ones, were used for the stunning, yet simple and natural looking looks that had to serve for all 3 designers’ collections that were featured in the Ones to Watch show.
Lan Nyugen created a glowing skin with sheer/medium coverage foundation with a dewy finish, added a bit of contouring under the cheekbones, pronounced the brows and eyes with big lashes and put just a hint of a natural flush onto the models’ cheeks. Absolutely gorgeous, and really natural looking – easy for all of us to recreate.
The Hair
And then in stark contrast the hair stylists of the Toni & Guy brigade pulled the models’ hair in to sleek, low-sitting ponytail with a strong, straight side-parting. On the back the heads, two strands were twisted around themselves to be then join up the ponytail. Again, simple hair but with just the right amount of a twist (excuse the pun!)
Overall it was pretty amazing to get a glimpse behind the scenes as 3-in-1 catwalk shows were being prepared and it was even more mind-blowing to then see the end result as the models graciously carried themselves and the designers’ beautiful pieces across the Freeman’s Hall (see pictures of the actual catwalk shows here).
Thanks again to the amazing The Body Shop dolls for giving me this opportunity and it’s sure as hell made me want more!
