Just after the change into 2011 I spotted a discounted Clean Mary by Soap&Glory for £3 and as I had never tried their products but heard good things about them I spontaneously decided to buy it.
I’ve been trying it since then and now it’s review time.
Product Details
Brand: Soap & Glory
Product Type: Cleansing Lotion/Milk
Product Name: Clean Mary
Size: 180ml / 6.1 fl oz
Price: £6.15
Description: “Clean Mary™ dissolves deep down dirt, purifies your pores and smoothes away dead skin cells, leaving your face fresh, bright and fabulous.“
Packaging
I really like the packaging. It’s really cute and appealing. It’s very 50s in my eyes. Reminds me of the old school ads that America’s Mad Men used to come up with to sell their products. It comes in a white silky plastic bottle that is barely see-through (you can only see how much product you’ve used if you hold the bottle against bright light) and comes with a twist pump (so you can turn it to close it to prevent accidental spilling). This way it’s very hygenic and you won’t end up contaminating your products. I would’ve liked this product to come with a cap, because there’s always some product that gets stuck in the “canal” of the pump and dries out and kinda blocks the pump. 4 out of 5
Product
Soap&Glory offer other cleansers, but only Clean Mary is in this pump-milk form. The others are either cleaning face wash or scrubs. But it’s above average size with 180ml. I do find its price tag of £6.15 quite steep. Cute packaging alone doesn’t justify a price like that in my opinion. 3 out of 5
Quality
I’m not sure what to say here. Maybe I’m retarded, but I really didn’t get how to use this product. I used it with cotton pads, but that felt too milky, gel-like and didn’t really do anything (other than taking a BIT of my foundation off). So I used it with water and wet my face but for that it didn’t feel right either. It didn’t lather up or anything. Both ways I still had makeup left on my skin and I expect any product that claims to cleanse to take my normal, non-water-resistant/proof makeup off. But it didn’t. And my skin didn’t feel purified or smoother, or fresh and bright. 0 out of 5
Overall
I wouldn’t buy this product again. I’m glad I only bought it in the clearance. And even those £3 were a waste of money in my opinion. NEVER EVER AGAIN! Cute packaging or not. 1 out of 5
