Review: Maybelline SuperStay 24hr Lip Stick

I bought this last weekend and put up a first impressions video then. I tested this during the week (alternating days, swapping with No7 Stay Perfect’s Lip Stick), so I think it’s now time for a good old review.

Product Details
Brand: Maybelline
Product Type: Lip Stick
Range: SuperStay 24hr
Product Name: SuperStay 24hr Lipstick
Color: Forever Heather
Price: £8.99
Description: “Our Micro-Flex formula glides on and looks gorgeous all day 30 long-lasting shades

Packaging
So the outer packaging is a clear plastic box that makes seeing the color end of the product really easy. The actual package of the product is a dual-ended wand, the color-side having a doe-foot sort of wand to apply the lip color with. The other side has a pull-out side where the moisturizer/balm lives. I think it’s quite practical design though I’ve seen L’Oreal’s Infallable Lipstick packaging and its just as great. Not liking the doe-foot applicator though. 4 out of 5

Product
Maybelline is offering this product in a staggering 30 colors! And the great thing is that if you run out of moisturizing balm, you can buy it separately! How great is that! For £8.99 I think it’s a good price, though I would’ve liked it to be a bit cheaper so that I could try other colors too! 3.5 out of 5

Quality
The doe-foot applicator is a bit of a miss. I don’t like it too much, so I just use an angled brush and apply the product that way. It dries very past and that feeling is a bit uncomfortable to be honest. If you accidentally put your lips together, your lips will stick together, which isn’t great. It just feels like you have lacque on your lips (which I guess it is!) but the conditioning balm is great and makes the lips feel less dry! But you’ll need to reapply that balm quite a lot! The product does quite a long while! It doesnt stay 100% in tact (by which I mean if you apply a darker color I think you’ll see it fading a lot quicker), but it does last a lot longer than normal lippies obviously. 3 out of 5

Overall
I do like this lipstick, but I’m also a bit torn about it. I’m not sure if I would buy it again, purely because I don’t like how drying it is. No7 Stay Perfect lippies or MAC Pro Longwear Lipcreams are just a tad less long-lasting but also massively less drying so I will most likely stick to those. 3 out of 5

Conclusion
Packaging: 4 out of 5
Product: 3.5 out of 5
Quality: 3 out of 5
Overall: 3 out of 5
Total: 13.5 out of 20

I hope you found this review helpful. I know a couple of you really like these lippies, I’m glad I find it ok too :)

Much love,
