Review: Maybelline Khol Express Eye Liners

Maybelline New York is one of those drugstore brands that every person – in the western civilized world – will own at least one item of at one or another point in there life.

Their most popular product was their Great Lash that I think came out in the 90s and is still continuing to be one most bought mascaras!

I only recently branched into the gel liner pencils world with Make Up For Ever’s Aqua Eyes pencils. But since those are difficult to come by (unless you live in/near London or are willing to go to London OR you are willing to buy blindly) and cost a lot of money, I went on a hunt to find cheaper liners that do the same trick and have come across Maybelline’s Khol Express Eye Liners that I’m reviewing for you now.

Reviews on Pencil Gel Liners:

Product Details
Brand: Maybelline
Product: Khol Express Eye Liner
Colors: Metallic Blue, Metallic Green, Brown Gleam, Black
Size: N/A
Price: £3.09 (currently)
Available at: Boots, Superdrug
Description: “Achieve bold, long-lasting looks that automatically brighten & give instant colour impact to the eye;: Creamy formula and tip that glides on smoothly for easy application; Tip lets colour glide on instantly; Kohl Express Eyeliner allows for long wear and high shine!

Unline most gel liners that come in jars, these liners – like the Sephora Flashy Liners or the Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes pencils – come in pencil shape. Some people prefer this as it makes the application easier. But with pencils and creamy products, drawing fine lines will be difficult. I don’t mind either, as long as they don’t smudge :) 5 out of 5

These pencils come in 4 different colors – so not a great selection, but at least they are bringing the most standard colors: Blue, Green, Black and Brown. For less than £5 definitely a good price and since they are available at Superdrug and Boots, very readily available too. I really do hope they will release more colors soon, especially since they are showing more colors than available in their product picture, which I find unfairly misleading! 3 out of 5

According to the description of the product the product should be creamy and glide-on very easily. That aspect is certainly true. It is just the right softness so that it really does glide, so no tugging or skipping and no blotchy lash line. They’re also highly pigmented and the color-payoff is fantastic. You get the color you see in the pencil. And they are indeed long lasting. I actually had a shower with these and they stayed put until I used showergel on them. So absolutely fantastic!! 5 out of 5

I would definitely buy these again, if they were to come out with other colors. I’m not interested in having more brown and black waterproof eye liners, but if they were to release, say, a metallic purple, I’d be so on it! If you don’t own any of these pencil or are looking for a cheap alternative to Make Up For Ever’s Aqua Eyes pencils and you are only looking for basic colors, you should buy these! 4 out of 5
