So the bf kindly bought this lip scrub for us and we halfed it. I’ve been using it for the past week and a bit and I think it’s time to review it.
Product Type: Lip Scrub
Description: “Bubblegum is made with exfoliating castor sugar and our delicious vegan flavour to gently scrub away rough skin, keeping your lips smooth and kissably soft.”
The lip scrub comes in a glass, see-through jar with a black lid and a black label going all around the jar. You can see the product and the Bubblegum one is pink and looks delicious. I don’t really like the packaging as you can end up contaminating the product when digging it out to put on your lips (unless you sanatize your hands beforehand). But at the same time, I can’t think of a better packaging for a lip scrub. You can hardly put it in a plastic tube or in a packaging with a pump – for that the product is way to hard and dry. The only plus for the product is that it’s great to carry around with you. 3 out of 5
Lush offers the lip scrub in 3 different variations/flavors: Bubblegum, Mint Julips (peppermint & chocolate) and Sweet Lips (vanilla & chocolate). I think it’s great that they offer it in 3 different flavors but I’m sure with the variations they offer on other products, they could do a lot better. I do like that it’s less than £5 (£4.75) and that you get 25g. This will last you quite a while even if you use it daily because a little amount can go far. 4 out of 5
It doesn’t do much for me, to be honest. Yes it exfoliates my lips, but only partially and I find myself using it a lot more than I would prefer to have to use a lip scrub. It does taste ridiculously tasty, but because the castor sugar grains aren’t very big, it’s not effective. I would’ve preferred Lush to use normal sugar (the stuff you put in your tea!). Those grains are bigger so more effective. 3 out of 5
I wouldn’t buy this again. It’s a nice gimmick but now that I’ve got it, once I’m through it, I will just create my own DIY lip scrub. If you look at the ingredients (castor sugar, jojoba oil, flavoring) it’s easy to create it yourself and I have done before. Still, I am glad that the bf bought it because now I have a jar that I can put my DIY lip scrub in! 2 out of 5
