Review Sleek MakeUP Deep Waves Nail Polish Set

Sleek MakeUP Deep Waves Nail Polish Set *

Sleek MakeUP has been one of my favourite brands before I even got into blogging 2 and a bit years ago (does anyone remember that they were recruiting campus brand ambassadors?). I always get excited when they come up with something new like this Deep Waves Nail Polish Set from their limited edition 3 piece Aqua Collection, which comprises an eyeshadow palette and a blush alongside of this nail polish quartette!

Channel your inner sailor with nail set in deep waves! With oceanic themed shades that add a jolt of vibrancy in primary colours such as tropic, pink mirage, deep coral and Cote d’Azur. The set features miniature bottles, ideal for holidays and travelling to sea side resorts.

Of course neither turquoise nor pink or coral are primary colours, but who care

Sleek MakeUP Deep Waves Nail Polish Set: Cote d’Azure, Deep Coral, Pink Mirage and Tropic

As far as I know this is Sleek MakeUP‘s first venture into nail polishes with this Deep Waves Nail Polish Set and the colours they picked to branch into this side of the beauty world are so up my street. I love bright colours, regardless of the season, but these are of course perfect for the (hopefully coming soon) Spring/Summer season.

I absolutely adore the names of the polishes as well – they are so summery! And contrary to popular belief, clearly not everything about Spring/Summer needs to include shimmer. None of these Sleek MakeUP polishes have a shimmer effect, just pure gorgeous bold colour with a glossy finish.

With just 2 coats the polishes appear properly opaque and I have to admit, I really didn’t expect they would dry as quickly as they did, especially without top coat.

I gotta say, I’m really impressed by Sleek MakeUP’s first venture into the world of nail polishes! For £9.99 for a set of 4 5ml nail polishes, the price is more than fair for this excellent quality! Most miniature nail polishes come in smaller sizes (OPI Minis for example are 3.75ml).

The set, alongside with the eyeshadow palette and the accompanying blusher will be available from March online of course as well as in Superdrug stores.

Backstage • London Fashion Week AW13 • Fashion Scout

London Fashion Week AW13 Fashion Scout

After missing the 2 big shows that I was invited to for London Fashion Week AW13 due to traffic – I was massively cheered up by the babes from The Body Shop letting me get the most amazing backstage experience of my life (besides meeting the Backstreet Boys and Nsync backstage when I was 13) for the Ones to Watch show that they sponsored alongside Toni & Guy for Fashion Scout.

The Ones to Watch show was a 3-in-1 catwalk show to showcase some mad-skilled up and coming designers namely Yeashin, Patrick Li and Yulia Kondranina.

The Make Up

Of course all The Body Shop products, including brand new as well as not even released ones, were used for the stunning, yet simple and natural looking looks that had to serve for all 3 designers’ collections that were featured in the Ones to Watch show.

Lan Nyugen created a glowing skin with sheer/medium coverage foundation with a dewy finish, added a bit of contouring under the cheekbones, pronounced the brows and eyes with big lashes and put just a hint of a natural flush onto the models’ cheeks. Absolutely gorgeous, and really natural looking – easy for all of us to recreate.

The Hair

And then in stark contrast the hair stylists of the Toni & Guy brigade pulled the models’ hair in to sleek, low-sitting ponytail with a strong, straight side-parting. On the back the heads, two strands were twisted around themselves to be then join up the ponytail. Again, simple hair but with just the right amount of a twist (excuse the pun!)

Overall it was pretty amazing to get a glimpse behind the scenes as 3-in-1 catwalk shows were being prepared and it was even more mind-blowing to then see the end result as the models graciously carried themselves and the designers’ beautiful pieces across the Freeman’s Hall (see pictures of the actual catwalk shows here).

Thanks again to the amazing The Body Shop dolls for giving me this opportunity and it’s sure as hell made me want more!

Manchester Fashion Week MCRFW

Manchester Fashion Week 2013 Box for February *

Ever heard of Manchester Fashion Week? No? Fret not, it’s still in its infant state. Only last year Manchester played host to a week of fashion ranging from affordable to luxury to up-and-coming – all based, or originating in Manchester. This year MCRFW will turn 2 and I’ve been super lucky to be invited to be one of their official MCRFW bloggers! With this, I’ve been sent a box by those babes who are putting this amazing week of fashion together to get me into the mood!

I absolutely love the idea, so I thought I film the review of the Manchester Fashion Week Box February 2013 * for ya pleasure!

Manchester Fashion Week will be from 22nd – 26th April and I absolutely cannot wait! I enjoyed myself immensely last year, seeing the catwalks of Missguided and co, and I have super high hopes it will be even more awesome this year! I really, really cannot wait! If you can, make sure to pop along! It might not be LFW but if you love fashion, then you’re going to love this week!!

LFW? Pfft! All about MCRFW!
