Follow Friday Interview Series: Do Not Refreeze

Happy Friday everyone!

And more importantly: HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY LOVE. This is for my man, whose 22nd birthday it is today! I love you so much my love. I can’t wait to be your fiancee, your wife and have your beautiful children :-) You are my life. I love you!! <3

So because today being my man’s birthday I wanted to feature someone very special to me in my Follow Friday Interview Series. I pondered about this for a while who to feature and then I remembered one of my favorite bloggers Leanne from Do Not Refreeze.

Name: Leanne
Age: 19 – I’ll be 20 in August!
Blog: Do Not Refreeze

Twitter: DoNotRefreeze

How long have you been blogging?
I started in either March or April of 2009, so a little over two years. My first six months or so of blogging was atrocious and embarrassing though!

How many subscribers (across all media incl Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, etc) do you have right now?
It doesn’t matter to me too much. I have enough! :) But I’ve worked hard over time so I think I deserve the amount I have.

What do you blog most about (reviews? make-up looks? hair care products? fashion?)?
I guess it’s a variety. I post a lot of nail art (including tutorials for some of them) but I also do a lot of reviews and other bits and pieces in between.

How did you come up with your blog’s name?
Haha I’ve told this story so many times! When I made my blog, I had no ideas for a name and I spotted the flier for a photography exhibition I’d been to earlier that day, called Do Not Refreeze. It seemed kinda cool so I went with it. So yes, I did completely rip the name off someone else. I feel bad about it though – when you search ‘do not refreeze’ on Google my blog comes up as the first result. I wonder if the photographer has ever gone to to Google for his exhibition and thought ‘who is this silly tart with the make up?!’. I wish I could change the name now, but it’s too ‘established’ now for want for a better word and I have to admit it does make it more memorable.

Do you blog full-time? If not, what do you do full-time?
I wish! I don’t actually know anyone who does, not in this country at least. Although I have to admit I have NO IDEA how some bloggers can go to SO MANY events. If they have a job they surely can’t afford to take that much time off and if they’re unemployed then surely they can’t afford to travel to all these events. It just perplexes me! Oh, and I’m a waitress and chef.

Have you ever been invited to any blogging events? If yes, which one was your favorite?
I’ve been to a few and I’ve liked most of them for different reasons. I’ve only ever disliked a couple, but let’s not go into that! Sleek MakeUP events are always fun, although I’ll always have a fondness for the Maybelline event in 2009 as it was my first ever one and the first time I met other bloggers!

What type of hair do you have and what’s your favorite hair care brand?
EXTREMELY thick and quite long. It’s not frizzy, but it is naturally curly. The thickness is such a pain in the arse. I really like Burt’s Bees for shampoo and conditioner but I don’t really use many hair products outside of the shower. Tresemmè heat defence spray before blowdrying and straightening, Charles Worthington salt spray for when I’m leaving it curly, and occasionally Umberto Gianni Backcomb in a Bottle on straightened hair if I’m going out.

What’s in your make-up bag?
I don’t actually carry a daily make-up bag. My job means I don’t really have time to touch up my makeup in the day so there’s no point! Even if I wasn’t working in this industry I probably wouldn’t carry a lot anyway. Maybe the blush and lip products I was wearing that day, black kohl and lip balm. That’s about it!

What products do you swear by?
Oh, SO many! At the moment I’m really into ELF Studio’s tinted moisturiser. It juuust evens out my skintone and gives me a little colour and doesn’t look like I’m wearing anything at all – perfect! And it has SPF20 too.

Who are your favorite bloggers?
I have lots! I have a lot of good friends I’ve made through blogging so I’m not going to list them all just in case I miss some of them off! Kim‘s blog Dottie K is always a pleasure to read, though, and lately I’ve been really loving Kate‘s blog Ghost Parties. Definitely give them a read!

What animal would you be if you could choose?
A cat. All they do is sleep all day, eat a couple of times and play or chase things when they fancy. Nice easy life! Or maybe a dolphin to cure my dislike of deep water. Orrr something right at the top of the food chain like a shark or a lion so no one messes with me!

What’s your pet hate?
I am a huge grammar and spelling nazi, so anything relating to that. But my BIGGEST pet hate is when someone is getting a glass of water, and they stick the tap on BEFORE they put the glass under it so the side of the glass gets all wet. I understand needing to run the cold tap for a couple of seconds to make sure it’s cold, but why can’t you do that, TURN IT OFF, put the glass under, TURN IT BACK ON, then TURN IT OFF AGAIN before removing the glass. REALLY not difficult. *Deep breaths* that drives me absolutely nuts.

What’s your vice?
Smoking. I wish it wasn’t, but it is and I haven’t got the incentive or willpower to give up just yet. Oh, and food. I love food. A lot.

What makes you subscribe to a blog?
Crisp, high quality photos, a distinguishable writing style and regular, varied content. Simple enough request!

How do you think your blog stands out from the other blogs?
I don’t really know. Does it stand out? I guess I’m sort of ‘known’ for my nail art, but so are lots of other bloggers so I honestly don’t know! I don’t think it does, really.

Do you have a favorite make up artist? If yes, who is it?
I REALLY like Lan Nguyen’s work. If you aren’t familiar with her, you simply MUST check her out!

How would other people describe you using only 5 adjectives?
I have no idea, you tell me! Brash, cheerful, excitable, daft, chubby.

What do you consider your strengths?
Just in general? I have impeccable manners! Or blogging-wise? I would have said my posting schedule, which used to be every other day at 7am without fail but work has just got me far too busy to keep it up now. I did take a break for a couple of weeks and now I’m aiming to get posts up every 3 days… I said aiming!

What is your favorite beauty magazine?
I honestly don’t read magazines at all. They’re all full of shite, I don’t even buy them when there’s freebies unless they’re REALLY good ones; and even then the magazine goes straight in the recycling. I like to read Scratch magazine online though.

What food can you not stay away from?
Beans on toast. I could literally eat it every day of my life.

How often per month do you haul?
I don’t really ‘haul’ as such. I tend to buy little and often! Although I normally have a good splurge a couple of times a year, like around my birthday and at IMATS of course!

Is there something we should know about you that you haven’t shared before?
Nope. I’m an open book!

love this girl. I really do. She’s so much fun to hang out with, she’s got such fantastic sense of humour. I felt like we clicked as friends straight away when I mistook her for Charli outside ProBeauty :-)

Much love and happy following of Leanne’s blog and don’t forget: I LOVE YOU BABY!!

Is there something we should know about you that you haven’t shared before?
Now THAT would be telling :)

There’s a couple of reason’s why I am featuring Amy besides the obvious one that I think she’s worth following. A lot of people knew LipGloss86, including me, Amy’s domain never renewed so she had to change blog names and that threw a lot of people off the track. I for myself didnt realise that The Beauty Slice is the same blog as LipGloss86, partially also because she changed her Twitter name too.

I hope you will go follow her.

Much love,

New: Cowshed Festival Kit

We’re in the beginning of this year’s festival season and if you are in the UK you can expect a lot of mud and dirt that comes with the festivals. And generally speaking, hygiene isn’t on the top of the list when you pay £100 and more for a 3day pass, right? And that’s the 2 reasons why I generally stay away from festivals (hygiene, dirt, expen

But there’s multiple companies that are using this opportunity to offer small hold-all kits for festivals that have all the necessary products – on of the companies doing this is Cowshed.

They are releasing what they call ‘The ultimate set of festival essentials stored all in one bag to keep you looking and feeling fresh from the moshpit to the campsite all weekend‘.

It includes
  • Travel wash bag
  • Wild Cow Knickers
  • Wild Cow Invigorating Bath & Shower Gel
  • Horny Cow Seductive Body Lotion
  • Lavender Gentle Cleanser
  • Quinoa Hydrating Daily Moisturiser
  • Lippy Cow Lip Balm
  • Cowshed Nail File

It’s going to be available from 15th June 2011 – RRP £30 on the website, Cowshed Spas and Soho House House Festival.

My thoughts
I love the idea that the kit comes with a pair of knickers! Hahaha! I’m not a festival expert, but I’m sure that’s useful! I don’t know if the cleanser and moisturizer are justified to have a place in the kit, but I think considering the price, it’s great! It’s not like you wouldn’t use the stuff at home or for other travels!
